A Safe Haven Culture
At Heartland, safety is a calling. We strive to create a place where students are physically safe, emotionally known, and spiritually anchored. Our small class sizes empower teachers to notice, guide, and care. In this community, every student is supported. With Dusty Neal leading as our School Safety Specialist, we stay current in state training and faithfully uphold strong safety practices.
Spiritually Safe
At Heartland, spiritual safety means every student is known, prayed for, and supported. Our leadership team meets with students weekly for check‑ins and prayer, ensuring their well‑being is cared for intentionally. Many of our staff carry spiritual gifts in counseling, discernment, and wisdom. High School Supervisor, Dr. Ken Hall, brings deep expertise with his doctorate in Counseling from Liberty University. Early each Thursday morning of the school year, staff gather to pray over the school and every person in it by name. Heartland also supports an outreach prayer team (different than the Thursday morning prayer group) of 19 people, led by Sheryl Clemens, and we welcome anyone who feels called to join. Contact Sheryl for more info.

Physically Safe
Physical safety at Heartland begins with people you can trust. Each staff member undergoes a background check and shares a testimony of being a born‑again Christian. Our campus remains locked during school hours with secure entry, and cameras monitor key areas for added protection. Leadership meets regularly to review safety procedures and maintain a culture of awareness. Here at Heartland, families can rest assured that their children are learning in a safe, well‑protected environment.
Emotionally Safe
Emotional safety at Heartland is rooted in a culture of grace, respect, and Christ‑centered character. We encourage students to communicate with kindness, reflecting the spirit of Colossians 4:6, and to pursue lives of purity and integrity as taught in Ephesians 5:3. To protect our community, we ask students to refrain from behaviors that harm themselves or others, including taking the Lord's Name in vain, cheating, bullying, swearing, vaping, smoking, drinking, drug use, gambling, and any form of sexual impurity. Students who engage in or promote these activities may face suspension or dismissal. Our desire is to cultivate an environment where every student can grow emotionally, spiritually, and relationally in a place marked by safety and honor.
